# Work with your developer
Developers hired through Lemon.io work as a **dedicated part of your team**, not through a middle layer.
Once an engagement starts, you can communicate directly with your developer — add them to Slack, Microsoft Teams, or any other tools your team already uses.
* **Time zones and overlap**
Developers don’t have to sit in your time zone, but most engagements keep a few hours of daily overlap for standups and sync calls. During matching, the Lemon.io team filters candidates by time zone so the overlap you need is there from day one. Some US clients request 3–4 hours of daily overlap; this is agreed upon with the developer upfront.
* **Async collaboration**
Remote work runs on async tools — Slack, Jira, Trello, and similar. Every developer in the network is expected to communicate proactively: provide clear written updates, flag blockers early, and deliver reliable follow-through without being prompted.
* **On-site visits and relocation**
Engagements are remote by default. If you'd like a full-time developer to visit your office and meet the team, that can be arranged — travel expenses are covered by the client. Longer-term relocation can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
